Zine & Poster

This is an A6 zine book that folds out to an A3 poster. After brainstorming and reflecting on different concepts, I have decided to create a narration based on the symbolisms of the butterflies: which are life, healing, transformation and beauty.

The following displays how I planned out the narrative:

My target audience are teenagers. This is because they are in a phase of their lives where they are mentally fragile and to prepare themselves to face the outside world in the future, they need mental support and guidance. Hence, this zine concept will help them throughout that process. For example, they could understand that they are not alone, they are cared for and they can always transform into a be􀆩er version of themselves with an open heart. And most importantly, they could understand that everyone possesses unique beauty and that they should not compare themselves with others, rather they should embrace who they are. With this, they could grow into mentally strong adults who are ready to face the challenges of life.

For the texts, I will write the story in the style/voice of modern poetry. This is because the audience and fans of modern poetry has grown over the years, especially those by writers such as Lang Leav, Rupi Kaur and Michael Faudet. Modern poetry style will be suitable for the zine as the language used are not too complicated and straigh􀆞orward, unlike classical poetry. Hence, most teenagers, which are the target audience, will be able to understand the inner message of the concept.

Here are the final results:
