Splash Pages
These are splash pages I designed with photo manipulation on Adobe Photoshop. All 4 splash pages are connected to a theme I have chosen —"Utopia," which can be defined as an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. I have always imagined myself entering a piece of art, especially traditional paintings and because of this, I painted and illustrated every element before putting them all together on Adobe Photoshop.
Heaven
The first sub-theme I have chosen is "Heaven." The clouds are the setting of this page where heaven is often visualised. I gave the clouds the colours pink and purple to capture more interest as they are untraditional colours of the clouds. Other than that, the Greek Ionic and Doric columns represent the gods in Greek mythology. To create this, I painted the night sky, and some clouds separately with acrylic paint. Then, I illustrated the Greek columns and the clam in Adobe Illustrator before putting them together in Adobe Photoshop.
Paradise
My idea of a paradise is a beach. One of the activities people can enjoy at the beach is looking and appreciating the beauty of the aquatic lives. This is where I added a fun twist. Instead the ocean lives being under the sea, they will be swimming in a night sky full of colours and stars. Plus, these fishes and jellyfishes will also glow, illuminating the dark view and enabling people to enjoy them. For this, I painted the galaxy sky and beta fishes with watercolour. Then I used gouache to paint the jellyfishes and oil pastels to illustrate the mountains. I imported everything to Adobe Photoshop together with a picture of the sea which I took and put them all together into the final composition.
Dream
Once I had a dream of going to outer space. With this splash page, I converted the dream into a picture. The advantage of being in a dream is that everything is possible! We can have whales swimming and butterflies flying in space, Mars can be full of colourful crystals and the best thing, we can even breathe in space. For this, I painted the Earth, Mars and the whales with watercolour. Next, I illustrated some butterflies and crystals in Adobe Illustrator.
Futurism
Many entertainment media such as movies, cartoons, or books envision the future to have flying cars and very tall buildings which look like they can reach the moon. With this splash page, I illustrated those ideas in a pink and purple colour scheme.
